The next Volkswagen Golf GTI will be truly impressive

Powered by a powerful 242 horsepower four-cylinder turbo engine, the new 8th generation Volkswagen Golf GTI will deliver exceptional pleasure and performance to its owner. In a recent interview, Volkswagen design chief Klaus Bischoff confirmed that the new GTI would be "the best GTI ever in terms of driving pleasure".


GTI appeared almost 45 years ago. Since then, 2.3 million Volkswagen Golf GTI units have been sold, making the new GTI a true automotive icon. The new Golf GTI MK8 isn't planned anytime soon, but it certainly deserves a wait. Here's everything you need to know about the new generation of the Golf GTI.


- It will launch in Europe as a 2021 model and arrive in Canada next year as a 2022 model.


- Its engine will offer 242 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, a significant gain compared to the current generation GTI.


- The driver will have complete control over the shock absorbers, steering and engine performance by navigating the different driving modes offered.


- The suspension is lighter by 7 pounds and the firmness of the suspension is increased by 15%.


- The Volkswagen Golf GTI 2022 will be a real track beast. It also set the record for the fastest lap for a FWD vehicle on the famous Nurburgring in Germany.


- The cabin has been designed to be more comfortable than ever and promises to offer a lot of luxury. Several digital screens are provided including a digital instrument block and touch buttons for the center console.


- A set of safety technologies will be on the menu including automatic braking with pedestrian detection and lane departure prevention system.
