The new 2022 Volkswagen Jetta receives several improvements

Unveiled earlier this week, the new 2022 Volkswagen Jetta will receive a host of upgrades this year including a new engine, revised design and redesigned interior.

The most significant change is arguably the new 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine, which replaces the old 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Developing 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, this engine delivers the highest standard torque in the industry as it boosts power by 11 horsepower. Despite the higher horsepower, this engine will actually be more economical than the outgoing engine due to a higher compression ratio of 11.5: 1.

A six-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic will be available.

As for the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI, it will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder delivering 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

Still available in three versions (Trendline, Comfortline and Highline), the Volkswagen Jetta 2022 receives exterior upgrades also including new bumpers, new colors and redesigned rims.

Inside, the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta is entitled to improved technologies including a digital display for the dashboard with an 8-inch screen as standard. The Comfortline, Highline and GLI versions are also entitled to Volkswagen's Car-Net system, which provides connectivity to the vehicle via a mobile application. A heated steering wheel is now standard as is forward collision warning and automatic braking.

The new Volkswagen Jetta 2021 arrives this fall.
