The new 2022 Volkswagen Taos SUV will arrive next summer

Volkswagen has unveiled its latest SUV, the brand-new 2022 Volkswagen Taos which will arrive on the market in summer 2021. Still, we already know quite a bit about Volkswagen’s latest SUV.

The Taos will slot just under the Volkswagen Tiguan in the Volkswagen lineup. That said, it’s far from being a small SUV. It will offer 795 litres of cargo space with the rear seats in place, and over 1,800 litres with the rear seats folded. Inside, it offers just 45 litres less passenger space than the Tiguan which is one of the most spacious SUVs in the compact SUV segment.

Powering the new 2022 Volkswagen Taos is a more powerful version of the turbocharged four-cylinder that is found in the current Volkswagen Jetta. It delivers 158 horsepower in the Taos alongside 184 pound-feet of torque.

There will be a range of standard and available features in the Taos including dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. Buyers can also opt for a full site of active safety technologies found in the IQ.Drive suite of driver assistance systems. The latter includes Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Braking (Front Assist), Active Blind Spot Monitor, Lane Keeping System (Lane Assist), Adaptive Cruise Control with a Stop and Go feature. High Beam Control (Light Assist), the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), and Park Distance Control.

The 2022 Volkswagen Taos will also get a standard digital instrument cluster and will be the only one to offer such an advanced system at no extra cost.

“Taos joins our lineup at an ideal time,” said Pierre Boutin, President and CEO, Volkswagen Group Canada. “Taos offers Canadians all the style, technology, and drivability that Volkswagen is known for at a more affordable price than our popular Tiguan.”
