Volkswagen ID.4: a new and interesting entry-level version

Volkswagen ID.4: a new and interesting entry-level version

When it debuted here, the Volkswagen ID.4 was offered in two ways; the rear-wheel drive Pro version, as well as the all-wheel drive Pro AWD variant. Both are back for 2023, but they come with a new entry-level livery, one that promises to be very appealing to many buyers.

This version simply takes the name ID.4.

First of all, the most interesting thing is that it benefits from a more attractive price. Specifically, it's $1,000 less than the entry-level version from last year. So we're talking about $43,995 for 2023. That's now $4,000 less than the entry-level 2022 model, which has seen its bill climb for the next year. As for the all-wheel drive livery, it's priced $9,000 higher than the new entry-level model.

And what does this new suggestion offer? Basically, the same driving pleasure and fuel savings that come from driving an electric model.

It should be noted that the model benefits from a slightly smaller battery. In fact, its capacity is 62 kWh (58 kWh usable) as opposed to 82 kWh (77 kWh usable) for the other two models. That's about 30% less. This translates into a similar difference in range.

For example, the new model offers 336 kilometers of quiet driving compared to 443 for the other rear-wheel drive variant, 410 for the all-wheel drive version. The power of this single-engine version is 210 horsepower.

If you live in the city and your commute is generally shorter, you'll be happy with this version, which will allow you to breathe easier.

And there are no real compromises when it comes to equipment. You still get a slew of safety features with this model, as well as conveniences like a heated steering wheel, heated seats, and a heated windshield.
